Aries's shell was constructed in 2010, by XR&D, and she has been engineered and fitted by myself, with some joinery by Greg Birkett. She is an 83% scale ‘representation’ of a 'River Class' Leeds Liverpool 'Short' boat (from the mid 1900s). These were the canvas covered, widebeam, working boats of the L&L between Wigan and Leeds. She has a steel superstructure of course and modern facilities with berths for up to five, one of which is the 'make up' occasional berth in the saloon.
